Considering the sumptuous treatment of Kidney related diseases, speakers at a discussion meeting on Friday demanded to the government and private sector authorities to reduce the cost of dialysis for the poor segment of people.
They observed that the treatment facilities for kidney diseases, number of nephrologists and dialysis centers are very limited in comparison with the growing number of kidney patients in the country.
Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS) organized the discussion meeting as part of the formal inauguration of ‘KAMPS-Kidney & Dialysis Center Shakhipur’, in Shakhipur Upazila.
KAMPS opened it’s 4th dialysis unit at Shakhipur with an aim to expand the dialysis facilities for the poor patients at an affordable cost.
KAMPS, a non-profit, voluntary organization of the country, mainly aims at spreading the kidney care facilities to the door step of the general people and those who are deprived of opportunity.
With this aim in view KAMPS has already been running dialysis service and kidney treatment facilities in different District cities of the country including capital city Dhaka, Tangail and Chandpur.
UpazilaNirbahi Officer (UNO) of the ShakhipurUpazila, Chitra Shikari formally inaugurated the ‘KAMPS Dialysis Center-Sakhipur’ on the center premises, Panichattra area of Sakhipur city.
Chief Consultant of the Department of Nephrology, Anwar Khan Modern Hospital, Dhaka, also Chairman of KAMPS, Professor Dr. M A Samad presided over the inaugural ceremony while he also made a power point presentation on the kidney diseases, its reasons, symptoms and remedial measures.
While addressing Chitra Shikari said that Professor MA Samad has a humanitarian attitude to the people of Shakhipur and Tangail and people here will be benefitted through the opening a dialysis unit at Shakhipur.
Upazila Chairman of Shakhipur ,Zulfiquer Haider Lebu, General Secretary of Shakhipur Upazila Awami League, Shawkat Shikder, Member of KAMPS, Md. Amin Sharif Shupon, Founding Vice President of KAMPS, Nasrin Begum, Executive Director, Rezwan Salehin also addressed the meeting among others.
At the event, KAMPS Executive Director assured that the people of Shakhipur and Tangail area will be provided all out services from the newly established center with lowest possible cost.
