Police arrested president of BNP’s youth wing Jubo Dal Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal from his Lalmatia residence on Saturday night. DMP DC (Tejgaon) Biplob Kumar Sarker said Mohhammadpur police arrested Alal around 11.40pm, but declined to elaborate the reason behind the arrest. He said Alal was taken to Mohammadpur Police Station. Earlier on Friday, police also arrested BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy. Later, he was shown arrested in a case filed in connection with the attack on ruling Awami League MP Chhabi Biswas during Wednesday’s violence in front of the Emergency Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). The two BNP leaders were arrested at a time when the country’s political situation started heating up following the 20-party alliance threat to wage a decisive movement from January 5 next year to realise their demand for holding a fresh election under a non-party administration.
