JS session begins today

Staff Reporter :The 10th Parliament is going into its fourth session today (Thursday).The House is set to start at 4:00pm preceded by the Business Advisory Committee’s meeting that will decide the duration of the fourth session.Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will chair the Business Advisory Committee’s meeting to be held at 3:00pm, according to Parliament Secretariat. On October 28, President Abdul Hamid summoned the Parliament session exercising his power bestowed upon him by article 72 (1) of the Constitution.The 10th Parliament went into its maiden session on January 29 while the second one (budget session) started on June 3 and third one on September 1. The third session of the 10th Parliament was prorogued on September 18 after 14 sittings that passed five bills, including the much-talked-about 16th amendment one. It unanimously passed the ‘Constitution (16th Amendment) Bill, 2014’, paving the path for establishing its power to remove Supreme Court judges after long four decades.
