The Jatiya Sangsad here passed the “Bangladesh Rural Development Board Bill, 2018” to strengthen the legal frame of the board which can actively play for the rural development and poverty alleviation.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga piloted the bill on Monday in the house on behalf of Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain. Later the bill was passed in the house unanimously by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhruy in the chair.
Moving the bill, the state minister said it would bring all activities under the proposed bill. The proposed new bill was made annulling the Bangladesh Rural Development Board
Ordinance, 1982 which was promulgated for establishing the BRDB as an autonomous body.
He said as an autonomous body BRDB’s legal frame is to strengthen the organization by making it more active and strong. So, it is needed to enact “Bangladesh Rural Development Board Bill, 2018”, the state minister added.
Under the proposed bill, the BRDB will be operated in four administrative tiers like national level, divisional level, district and upazila or thana level.
