JP to quit Cabinet at the earliest : Roushan

Leader of Opposition in the Parliament Roushan Ershad said on Monday morning that Jatiya Party ministers would quit the Cabinet soon so that the party could play an effective role as the opposition. She made the statement while addressing a press conference at the Parliament building in the capital on Monday morning.
“We’ve had discussions at the party forum that would play an effective role as the opposition party . We
have decided to come out from the Cabinet soon and withdraw our ministers from there,” she said replying to a question at a press conference in the Parliament Media Center.
Asked whether Jatiya Party supports police siege to BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan political office, Roushan said, Khaleda Zia has not been confined. “We think it has been done for the sake of Khaleda Zia’s security. The government knows about it better.”
Roushan, who hardly appears before the media, said, they do not know what information the government has about Khaleda Zia. “We don’t support if it has been done out of political motivation. We do support it if it has been done for her security.”
Ruling out the possibility of any snap election right now, Roushan Ershad said, a democratic environment now prevailing in the country and there is no need for any election.
She claimed that Jatiya Party participated in the January-5 Parliamentary elections last year to continue the constitutional process and sustain democracy. “Though the political situation has turned a bit unstable, it’ll get normal very soon,” was her opinion.
Opposition Chief Whip Tajul Islam Choudhury, Jaitya Party leaders Kazi Firoz Rashid, MP, ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader, MP, Fakhrul Imam, MP, and Rowshan Ara Mannan, MP, were. among others, present at the press conference, arranged on the occasion of the first anniversary of the January-5 national election that largely went uncontested.
