The leaders of Chittagong Union of Journalist (CUJ)regretted the delay on the part of the Information Ministry in forming the 9th Wage Board despite Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s repeated directives while President Abdul Hamid also underscored the need for the enhanced wage for the newsmen nearly one year ago.
The journalists with the banner of CUJ staged a rally at Chittagong Press Club Premises where they said unless the demand was fulfilled the newsmen would wage a tougher campaign.
“The journalists want to implementation of resent commitment by Information Minister Hasanul Hoq Inu, to announce for constituting the ninth Wage Board for all newsmen as soon as possible,” he said.
The journalists of Chittagong demanded immediate announcement of the ninth wage board award by January 30 next for all journalists and employees of print, electronic and online news agencies. “Otherwise they would wage for tougher movement including enforcement of the resignation of the Information Minister” the said in a demand rally.
If the information Minister failed to fulfill his commitment, the journalists in the country would announce fresh movement from February next against him including one point demand, they added. CUJ President Reaz Haider Chowdhury chaired the rally, sources said.
