Staff Reporter :The High Court on Tuesday granted bail to journalist leader Shawkat Mahmud in two cases filed against him on charges of creating anarchy. A High Court bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Amir Hossain granted bail in two cases. The pro-BNP journalist leader and former President of Jatiya Press Club and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) is now in Kashimpur jail. He was arrested on August 18 in 2015 and shown arrested in 20 cases. Of the cases, he got bail in 16 cases. As few more cases are pending in the court, he has not been released. Deputy Attorney General Sheikh AKM Moniruzzaman Kabir represented the State, while senior lawyer Advocate Khondakar Mahbub Hossain stood for Shawkat Mahmud.
