Journalists will stage an agitation rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) at 11 am today to press home their six-point demands, including announcement of ninth wage board and cancellation of section 57 of the ICT Act.
In a statement, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Secretary General Omar Faruque and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Shaban Mahmud and General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury urged the journalists to take part in the rally. The six-point demands include: cancellation of section 57 of the ICT Act, withdrawal of cases against journalists, trial of perpetrators involved in an attack on Shahed Khan and Ramjan Ali, withdrawal of false case against Siddiqur Rahman, stopping harassment and torture on journalists across the country and announcement of ninth wage board.
