Hasan Arefin, Managing Editor of the daily Natun Kagoj and an Executive Committee Member of the Jatiya Press Club, died of a cardiac arrest at a city hospital on Monday morning. He was 60. His son Md Ferozul Ferdous told BSS that his father breathed his last at Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital in the capital at about 9 am soon after he was taken there from his Mirpur residence with severe chest pain. He left behind wife, one daughter and one son, a host of colleagues, friends, relatives and admirers to mourn his death. He was the founding President of Dhaka-based Patuakhali Journalists Forum (PJF), former Organizing Secretary of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU). He worked for several Bengali dailies and was Chief Reporter of the daily Bartoman.
