A discussion and job fair for decent livelihood and employment for persons with disabilities held at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Bhaban in the city recently.
BCC along with the non-government organisations the Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) and Accensture and Leonerd Cheshre Disability (LCD) jointly organised fair with a view to ensuring the employment rights of persons with disabilities in the ICT sector.
State Minister for ICT Division Junaid Ahmed Palak attended the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the fair.
SM Ashraful Islam, Executive Director of BCC, Monsur Ahmed Chowdhury, Ex-member on UN Disability Affairs Committee, Khandaker Jahurul Alam, executive director of CSID spoke on the occasion.
A large number of people with disabilities, their family members and representatives from corporate sector were present on the occasion.
A total of 60 persons with disabilities got jobs at different posts at private organizations, including BASIS, Creative IT Limited, BACCO and Shibchar Food Corners at the fair.
