People of several village under Basundia union council in Jessore are now aware of non -communicable diseases such as stroke, heart attract, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, arsenicosis and so on. It was learnt after visiting the area.
Asia Arsenic Network, a Japan based non- government organisation, funded by the foreign ministry of Japan has formed a group naming social support group comprising local people including representative of the local governments, teachers and religious leaders.
There are three such groups at Basundia union under Jessore sadar upazila comprising a total of 74 members. The members were making the people of the area conscious about no-communicable diseases, it was observed while visiting the area.
An opinion sharing meeting was held at Jangalbadhal High School on Thursday morning.
Villager physician Dr Shafiullah chaired the meeting while it was attended among others by Moshiur Rahman, project manager, Obaidur Rahman, community motivator, Seema Mallik, union supervisor, Mainul Islam, Sanjoy Hore, Shafiqul Islam, Abdus Sattar and Nazrul Islam.
The participants of the meeting discussed about their achievements since the very inception of the project in 2013.
