DU Correspondent :
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Dhaka University unit, on Sunday submitted a memorandum to the Chancellor of the university President Abdul Hamid through university Vice-Chancellor demanding release of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
JCD DU unit Convener Rakibul Islam Rakib and Member Secretary Amanullah Aman with the leaders and activists of the student wing handed over the memorandum to DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman at his office on Sunday noon.
In the memorandum, they expressed anxiety over Khaleda Zia’s health
and that she needed bail urgently on humanitarian grounds.
They further said that their party chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s health had sharply deteriorated and her family had made an appeal for sending her abroad for advanced treatment. But unfortunately no bail was given.
The JCD brought out a protest procession which paraded several streets of the campus.
Khaleda has been in jail since February 8, 2018, the day she was jailed in false and fabricated case, says BNP.
