Jaya Ahsan’s film ‘Konttho’ hits theatres

After a successful run in West Bengal, Indian Bangla film Konttho, which stars Jaya Ahsan released in Bangladeshi theatres yesterday. The film is screening in 20 theatres across Bangladesh.
Konttho has been jointly directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee. The story of the film is inspired from the life of Bibhuti Chakraborty, who survived laryngeal cancer. Apart from Jaya, the film also stars Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Paoli Dam.
A press conference, attended by Jaya, and directors Roy and Mukherjee, was organized at the Channel i office on Wednesday.
While speaking to the press, Jaya said: “Konttho is actually a special project to me as it has been a vivid journey for me. Artistes play so many roles in this world of acting, but only a few characters they portray leave a mark on their life.My character in this film, Romillais still alive within me. I would like to request the audience to watch it in theatres to witness an inspiring film that narrates the struggles between life and death.”
In Dhaka, the film is being showcased at Star Cineplex, Blockbuster Cinemas, Shyamoli Cinema Hall, Modhumita and BalakaCineworld. The film will also be screened at Silver Screen and Almas in Chittagong, and various other theatres in Joydebpur, Bogura, Mymensingh and Khulna.
Konttho is being distributed in Bangladesh under the South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement. Impress Telefilm Limited is the film’s distributor in Bangladesh.
