Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) in separate drives arrested two Jamaat and Jubo Dal leaders from city’s Chawkbazar and Bakalia areas on Thursday .
The arrestees were identified as S M Lutfur Rahman, Chittagong city unit president of Jamaat’s labour front Shromik Kallyan Federation and Mohammad Jasim Uddin, a joint-convenor of the Bakalia thana unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, a youth front of BNP .
Acting on secret information, police arrested Lutfur from in front of Chittagong Grammar School near Chawkbazar around 3.30 pm on Thursday , said Mohammad Nezam Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC-Investigation) of Kotwali Police Station.
He was wanted in 15 cases filed in connection with sabotage acts, violence and vandalism, the OC added.
Besides, on a tip-off, police arrested Jubo Dal leader Jasim from his residence in Noya Mosjid area of Bakalia on Wednesday night.
Jasim was wanted in two cases filed for cocktail attack and vandalism, said Mohammad Mohsin, OC of Bakalia Police Station.
