Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday termed the attack on Khaleda Zia’s motorcade during her electioneering in the city a ‘drama’ and asked her to stop this and let people live peacefully.
“She (Khaleda) has created anarchy just coming down on the street, people want to get rid of this ‘Anarchy Begum’… I’ll ask her to relieve the people of the country of her drama,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina, also the President of the ruling Awami League, was speaking at the Awami League Parliamentary Board (ALPB) meeting held at her official residence Ganabhaban.
She said, the country was returning to normalcy after 92 days and people were getting some sort of relief from a hell-like situation. “But at this time, Khaleda Zia came down on the street and started creating anarchy. She’s staging a drama coming down on the street for election campaign,” Hasina said.
The Prime Minister said Khaleda’s security personnel opened fire without any provocation and created a dreadful situation. “This is how she is destroying the election atmosphere,” she said.
The Awami League chief said Khaleda Zia has got a survey and she knows it very well she would not be able to win the city corporation elections. “When people are joining the elections spontaneously, she is staging a drama,” Hasina added.
During the 92 days starting from January 5, Hasina said Khaleda inflicted too much of pain on people. “Don’t create any more disturbing situation in the country…control your security personnel,” she asked Khaleda Zia.
She also asked the BNP chief not to play with the lives and property of the mass people.
About the three city corporation elections, Hasina said this is a local government election. “We think the local government election will be free and neutral,” she said adding that those who will get the people’s verdict will win.
