The 10th four-day long Bangladesh International Plastic Fair (IPF 2015) which will kicks off at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city from 27 January to expand export market for Bangladeshi plastic goods abroad.
“The plastic industry has a great prospect and this sort of fair creates an opportunity for local plastic goods manufacturers,” said Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA) President Jashim Uddin at a press conference held at its office in the city on Sunday.
BPGMEA with the help of Chan Chao International Co Ltd, Taiwan will organise the fair.
“Our manufacturers will get chance to interact with the foreign plastic producers and will be familiar with modern technology in the fair,” the president hoped.
“It is possible to achieve the goal, if we can ensure a skilled workforce, lab facilities and government provide cash incentives with logistic support.”
“At this moment, we need to set up a plastic technology institute, a plastic industrial estate and a laboratory to expand the industry and its production,” said Jasim while he was talking with the New Nation reporter.
He further said, “The size of the internal market of plastic products is around Tk 90.00 billion and the export volume of the sector was $85.70 million in the fiscal year of 2013-14, which is 1.19 per cent higher than the previous year.”
Around 14 countries including China, India, Pakistan, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey and Austria have confirmed their participation and 350 stalls will be in the fair.
