The Walton Inter-Division & Inter-District Basketball Championships begin today at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium.
Bangladesh Basketball Federation has arranged the basketball meet under auspices of Walton Group.
To mark the ensuing basketball meet, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium in the Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Wednesday.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Basketball Federation Lieutenant Commander (Retd) AK Sarker, Senior Operative Director (Head of Games & Sports Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee Mostafa Jabed Mohiuddin were present at the conference, among others.
Secretary of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh Awami League Harunur Rashid will inaugurate the meet as the chief guest, while FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn will be present at the time as the special guest. General Secretary of Bangladesh Basketball Federation Lieutenant Commander AK Sarker will be present at the time.
President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP, will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
A total of six teams splitting into two groups are taking part in the basketball meet. They are: Dhaka, Khulna, Chittagong, Rajshani, Jessore and Chandpur.
The champions will be awarded Taka thirty thousand as prize-money, while the runners-up will get Taka twenty thousand.
The three-day long basketball meet will come to an end on March 24.
