Police raided the newspaper’s office at RK Mission Road around 11:30pm Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman said.Inqilab News Editor Robiullah Robi was arrested in a case filed by acting Additional IG Pralay Kumar Joardar, he said. The paper published a report on the AIG on Monday, raising several allegations and claiming the man had created an “unofficial Hindu League” in the police. Pralay Joardar filed a case on Tuesday at the Wari Police Station accusing the paper of hurting religious sentiments, attempts to create disorder in the administration and violation of the ICT Act, among others. The case accused the editor, publisher, news editor, city editor and the correspondent. DC Rahman said Wari police and the Detective Branch jointly raided the newspaper office at night. An Inqilab reporter seeking anonymity told bdnews24.com detectives arrived first at their office. “They asked for the correspondents who filed the reports ‘Police officer dominates force in prime minister’s name’ on Monday and ‘Anti-India sentiment prevails in the army’ on Tuesday,” the reporter said. “They asked for their bio data.” “We told them they would get the bio data in the morning when the office opens. They took the news editor when they left,” the reporter added. Earlier this year police raided Inqilab office after the paper published a baseless report on the army. The paper later issued a rejoinder apologising for the story. — bdnews24.com
