The overall point-to-point inflation fell to a new low of 5.61 percent in April, thanks to the falling food prices, according to the monthly inflation update of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The general inflation rate was 5.65 percent in March.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal released the data on Tuesday at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar of the capital city. He attributed the fall to the declining prices of food products, including rice.
The inflation in April was also the lowest in 42 months since October 2012.
