State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain on Friday said that they would bring a new industrial revolution in the country to build a prosperous Bangladesh.
“Our goal is to make Bangladesh a developed country by 2041. That is why we need a developed industrial sector along with agriculture,” said the state minister while addressing a workshop arranged for the officials of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) at a city hotel.
The BSCIC has to play a vital role to make the industrial revolution successful in the country, Farhad added.
Emphasizing on creating more entrepreneurs, he said, “There are many working hands in the country. We need to find out them and to train them, so that they can establish their own new industries.”
“Government will provide necessary facilities in this regard,” the state minister added.
Farhad further said, “The goods, we import from other countries, need to be manufactured in the country. Thus, there will create huge employment and will save a large amount of foreign currency.”
“BSCIC has to take necessary steps in this regard,” he said.
He also urged all to work for the next generation inspired by patriotism to build a prosperous nation.
Expressing dissatisfaction at the BSCIC’s performance, Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim alleged that it had no skilled hands to develop activities and to adopt new ideas.
“The BSCIC is not an entity for making profits, its activities encompass social responsibility, creating entrepreneurs and generating employment among rural people,” he said.
Shedding some light on the positives, the BSCIC Chairman Md Mustaq Hasan said that they directly or indirectly contributed nine percent to last fiscal year’s exports through 5,887 production units and employment for over eight lakh people.
He said the BSCIC plans to set up training centres in all districts for encouraging entrepreneurship and providing skills training.
