Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque urged to implement the verdict of heinous August 21 grenade attack that plotted to kill Bangabandhu’s elder daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the front ranking leaders of Awami League (AL).
“Ziaur Rahman was involved in Father of the Nation Bangabandhu’s assassination conspiracy while his wife Khaleda Zia and their son were the main architects of August 21 grenade attack,” he said this recently while presiding over a meeting, organised by City and District AL marking the August 21 grenade attack (2004).
“Zia directly engaged in the conspiracy for destroying the spirit of Liberation War and turning the country into a failed state while Tarique Rahman plotted to kill Sheikh Hasina, the main source of inspiration to the country’s people, to cripple the nation,” he said. Khaleque, also the city unit AL President, said Khaleda, Tarique and former State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar made the evil design to kill Sheikh Hasina and most of the AL leaders to capture the state power forever. The meeting was addressed, among others, by AL City and district units general secretaries MDA Babul Rana and Sujit Kumar Adhikary, AL leaders Sarfuddin Biswas Bacchu, Syamol Singha Roy, Mokbul Hossain Mintu, Sheikh Sayed Ali, Advocate Saiful Islam, Asit Baran Biswas, Munshi Mahbub Alam Sohag and Jubo League city unit president Shafiqur Rahman Palash.
Later, a doa mahfil was held for seeking salvation of the martyrdom’s departed souls of the heinous grenade attack on August 21, 2004.
