Mimi Chakraborty is one of the most bankable stars in Tollywood and is also debuting as a singer with her next, Shagufta Rafique’s Mon Jaane Na which also stars Yash in the lead. But that’s not it. Mimi has added yet another feather to her cap. She’s one of the new faces from Tollywood to jump on the political bandwagon. Ever since CM Mamata Banerjee announced her name as a Trinamool candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Mimi has been ecstatic. She will contest from Jadavpur. We spoke to Mimi shortly after the announcement and she shared, “I’m shivering with excitement. I was shooting when I got the news and soon I was bombarded with calls. It will take some time to sink in. It’s a huge responsibility and I’m looking forward to bringing positive changes in all possible ways.”
On work front, Mimi will sing an unplugged version of Keno Je Toke, which will be used in the end credit of the film. Mon Jaane Na is a dark love story in the world of crime where Yash and Mimi play a couple and the film shows the high and lows of their life and whether love wins or the situations dictate their life. The actress will also be seen in Arindam Sil’s untitled next. She’s paired opposite Anirban Bhattacharya in the thriller. Mimi is looking forward to balance her film and political commitments.
