Institute of Chartered Sceretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has oragnised a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme on Bangladesh Labour Act- Amended in 2013 at the Conference Hall, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka. A large number of Members of ICSB, mostly the company Secretaries and Directors of Listed Companies participated in the CPD programme.
Mohammad Asadullah FCS, President of ICSB inaugurated the Programme and Mohammad Sanaullah, FCS, Immediate past President of ICSB was the Session Chairman. Mr. Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Company Secretary, Lafarge Cement Ltd. presented the Key note Paper while Md, Shahid Farooqui FCS, Chairman of Education Committee, ICSB was the Official Discussant.
Kazi Mizanur Rahman in his presentation highlighted on major features of Bangladesh Labour Act, Amended 2013 and benefits as well as limitations thereof. He also highlighted on the importance of implementation of Labour Act in workplace to protect the interest of working labours in Bangladesh. He also focused on the ambiguity of different sections of the new Law.
The President, Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, in his inaugural speech appraised the background of the Bangladesh Labour Act, Amended in 2013 and highly appreciated the Institute for arranging such a time worthy workshop for the Professional development of its Members.
The official discussant and the President shared their views on the keynote presentation highlighting that Labour Act practices in the workplace would ensure and secure stable working relationship between employers and employee as well accelerating economic growth. They recommended for some clarity in the Law so that confusions do not arise. Thereafter qualitative and significant discussions were held during Question and Answer Sessions between participating Members of the Institute and the keynote presenter.
