Husband gets life for killing wife in Bagerhat

A court here sentenced a man to suffer life imprisonment for killing his wife at Bemrata village in Sadar upazila in 2015 on Tuesday.
The court also fined him Taka 20,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more in jail. Additional District and Session Judge M Zakaria Hossain pronounced the judgment.
According to the court official, the convicted person is M Kausar Ali Sheikh, 40, a sacked police constable and resident of the same area.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that Kauser strangulated to death his wife Mina Begum, 34, mother of two children, at his residence on May 13, 2015 and fled away.
The victim’s brother Kamruzzaman filed a murder case against Kausar with Bagerhat Model Thana soon after the incident. Later police arrested Kauser.
Police after investigation submitted charge sheet against him to the court on January 31, 2016.
Later, the Judge after examining the witnesses and evidences found Kauser guilty and handed down the punishment in presence of him.
