A court here yester day sentenced husband to death for murdering his wife over a family feud in 2010.
The Chittagong district and session Judge Helal Chowdhury delivered the judgment convicting Mohammad Mostafa alias Sukkur, hailed from south Pahartali under Hathazari upazila of the district.
The prosecution story, in short is that the convicted Mostafa strangulated to death his wife Rozina Begum over a trivial family matter at his residence on April 6 in 2010. Police recovered the body hanging from ceiling fan next day.
Victim’s father filed a murder case with Hathazari Police Station on April 7 against Mostafa.
Police submitted charge-sheet on September 16 in 2010 while the court framed charges on January 23, in 2011. The court examined the deposition of 17 witnesses out of 20 and relevant documents and handed down the verdict yesterday.
