In Mymensingh’s Gafargaon, a female employee of the Railway Engineering Department was gaven an offensive offer by the caretaker of a house of former mayor Kaiser Ahmed, while working on a railway line. The employees of the railway department have organized a human chain to protest the physical humiliation and demand theed of the accused.
The human chain program was held on Tuesday morning on the Gafargaon Railway Station premises under the banner of Gafargaon Railway workers.
More than 150 employees of Railway Engineering Department, including wayman, gateman and timekeeper took part in the human chain.
About 150 working women of different classes and professions of the upazila took part in the human chain and expressed solidarity with the program and demanded justice for the terrorists who molested women in the workplace.
During the hour-long human chain from 10 am to 11 am, Wayman Kalam, Md. Babul Hossain, Soni Akhter Putul, Shahida Akhter, Gate Keeper Belal Hossain, Md. Nurunnabi, Time Keeper Russell Mia and Karmajibi Nari Mall spoke in support of their demand. Begum etc.
In this regard, Gafargaon Police Station OC Anukul Sarkar said, legal action is being taken on the basis of Aklima’s allegation of being physically abused. The allegation is being investigated as it has the name of Advocate Kaiser Ahmed.
Advocate Kaiser Ahmed said, “I have two houses in Gafargaon. There is no caretaker named Liton in either of the two houses.” The care takers of my house are Abu Mia and AH Samad.
On Saturday, October 18, at around 1:30 pm in the Dhamail area of the Dhaka-Mymensingh section, 4/5 employees, including two women employees shaming the engineering branch of the railway, were overhauling the railway line in front of the house of former municipal mayor Juba League leader Advocate Kaiser Ahmed.
At that time, the caretaker of the former mayor’s house, Liton alias Bashu Liton (48) and 3/4 unidentified persons started calling the two female employees as obscene and give offensive proposals.
Unwilling to do so, Bashu Liton and his accomplices detained and physically humiliated Wayman Aklima Begum, 26, and slapped her. Seeing the incident, the locals rushed forward and Basu Liton left the spot.
