The detective branch men raided an Ayurvedic factory in Rangpur and confiscated a large quantity of drugs for producing medicines illegally without registration, chemist, fire and environmental clearance.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Rangpur Metropolitan Police’s Intelligence Department, the Department of Drug Administration and the Executive Magistrate of the district administration raided the New Moubhasha Dhaka Pharmaceutical Ayurvedic Factory in Baharkachna Masterpara area and seized about Rs 5 lakh worth of chemicals, medicines and various equipments. At the same time, the owner of the company was fined Tk 10,000 and imprisoned for 7 days without pay and confiscated illegal drugs worth Tk 5.5 lakh.
During the raid, they could not show environmental clearance, no registration in the name of the factory, no registration in the name of the factory, no clearance from the fire service. Executive Magistrate Rahat bin Qutb said there was no registration in the name of the factory The mobile court conducted a mobile court on various charges including service clearance, production of drugs outside Annexure, improper storage of raw materials for making medicines and ordered the owner of the company to pay a fine of Tk 10,000 and 7 days imprisonment without pay.
He also ordered to stop all activities and production of the factory till the licensing is done. Rangpur District Administration Executive Magistrate Md. Rahatbin Qutub on the charge of the offense through a mobile court under Section 16 (a) and (c) of the Medicines Act 1940 and the owner of the institution Md. Waliullah (53) Ordered 7 days imprisonment without labor and ordered to stop all activities and production of the said factory till the license is obtained.
It is to be noted that the operation of the Detective Branch (DB) will continue to control all kinds of crimes including production, sale and purchase of adulterated drugs in Rangpur metropolitan area.
