Coast Guard forces in Chittagong recovered huge contraband foreign wine consists of 1,955 bottles of foreign wine and bear from outer berth of the Chittagong Port on Saturday midnight.
Acting on secret tip-off, coast guard forced conducted raid in the outer berth area and recovered these contraband items from a engine boat but none was arrested in connection, sources said. A release of Coast guard, East Zone sources said.
One held with fake currency
District police of Chittagong rounded up one person allegedly involved with the circulation of fake currency noted alongwith Tk.19 thousand on Friday from Padua of Rangunia upazila of Chittagong. Officer in-charge of Rangunia thana told that they arrested one Enamul Hoque (32) from a local Rajarhat of the upazila while trying to circulate these forged notes to the sellers of groceries.
Enam is the son of Shamsul Hoque of Satkania and he is also shouldering a money forgery case with the city’s Kotwali thana, sources said. A case under fake currency note act was lodged with the concerned thana, sources said.
