A housewife named Nazma Begum (40) was allegedly beaten to death with a bamboo stick at Harirampur in Manikganj. The incident took place at Sarafdinagar village of Balla union in Harirampur district on Sunday morning. Nazma died at around 12 noon on the way to Dhaka for treatment.
Nazma Begum is wife of Mohammad Islam Sardar of Sarafdinagar village and mother of three children.
Harirampur police have arrested a man named Rafiq Uddin, 45, on suspicion of murder. The arrested Rafiq is the son of Shafi Uddin of Sarafdinagar village in Balla union of Harirampur.
The victim’s husband Islam Sardar said that he and his wife were going to pick chillies in the morning. As there was water on the road, he was going with a boat and his wife was walking to the pepper field. After a while, his brother Mosharraf Hossain and neighbor Shamim shouted that neighbor Rafiq was beating his wife with bamboo. At the shouts of Musharraf and neighbor Shamim, people rushed forward and Rafiq fled.
