A housewife was allegedly beaten to death and later her body was found hanging from a rope by the family members of her in-laws at Matinagar in Panchthubi union of Sadar upazila early Sunday.
The victim is identified as Tania Aktar Tumpa, 20, mother of a child and wife of Juwel Mia.
Victim’s family members alleged that Tumpa’s husband along with his step-mother, father and two brothers used to torture her for dowry. And so, all of them are involved in Tumpa’s killing, they claimed.
Accused Juwel Mia and his family members were on the run after the incident, locals said.
Meanwhile, duty-officer of Kotwali Police Station Kibria said they were informed of the matter but no formal complaint was lodged in this connection.
