Director General (DG) of Health Directorate Professor Abul Kalam Azad has asked all the hospitals in Dhaka city to give free treatment to the Banani FR Tower inferno victims.
He said, the Health Minister told me to urge the hospitals of Dhaka City to provide free treatment to the FR Tower victims.
He said that all the hospitals should take preparation in this regard. DG said, the hospitals are ready to provide all kinds of treatment. The private and the government ambulance services have been asked to go to the inferno tower to give lift to the injured. They abided by the request and were present there.
Professor Abul Kalam Azad said, the hospitals have given positive response
to our request. They are highly cordial to help the injured and burnt people in FR Tower inferno.
The burnt victims were treated at CMH, Kurmitola General Hospital, Dhaka Medical College Hospital and far and near private hospitals. The fire service worked hard with modern apparatus to save the people who were held hostage by the inferno in the FR Tower. Ambulances were seen on roads to lift the injured people within quickest possible time to the hospitals. The doctors and the staff and the nurses were found sincere in their profession whenever patients arrived.
About 19 people were killed and 70 injured in the devastating fire that broke out in a multi-storey building in the Kamal Ataturk Avenue in capital’s Banani area on Thursday till writing of this report at 7.45pm.
