‘Historic March 7’ observed in dists

Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) has celebrated the historic March 7 with due dignity, solemnity and various activities. On behalf of Mayor Md. Ekramul Haque Titu, Secretary Rajib Kumar Sarkar, Councillors and officials laid wreaths at the Circuit House premises in Joybangla Chattar Monday.
Besides, Mymensingh City Corporation organized a speech, poetry and painting competition on the occasion of the day on March 7 at Zainul Udyan Baishakhi Mancha. Around 300 students from different schools participated in it. During the day, students from various educational institutions visited the Town Hall Bangabandhu Gallery built by Mymensingh City Corporation. There 7 March speech and special documentary about Bangabandhu was broadcast. In a message on the occasion of the historic March 7, Mayor Md. Ekramul Haque Titu said, Bangabandhu declared in a very critical situation of the country, this time the struggle is for our liberation, this time the struggle is for freedom.”
Manikganj Correspondent says: On the occasion of the historic March 7, a colorful procession and discussion meeting were held in Manikganj on Monday. The meeting was held at the Awami League Party Office in the city, chaired by District Awami League president Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, Vice-President and Municipal Mayor. Ramzan Ali, Joint General Secretary BirMuktijoddha Advocate Badrul Islam Khan Bablu, Sultanul Azam Khan Apel, Kazi Enayet Hossain Tipu, Sadar Upazila Awami League General Secretary and Garpara Union Parishad Chairman Afsar Uddin Sarkar, Municipal Awami League General Secretary Md. Jahidul Islam and others were present.
District Awami League General Secretary Freedom Fighter Advocate Abdus Salam conducted the programme.
At around 12 noon on Monday, a procession was taken out on Shaheed Rafiq Road in front of the party office in the city on the initiative of the District Awami League. The procession went around different roads of the city and ended in front of the District Bar Association building. Later a discussion meeting was held there.
Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent reports: The historic March 7 was observed celebrated in Ishwardi on behalf of Awami League and its affiliates on Monday. The day began on with the hoisting of national and party flags at the party office.
Later, leaders and activists of the party and its affiliated organizations led by Alhaj Nuruzzaman Biswas, Member of Parliament for Pabna-4 constituency, laid wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation at the party office.
Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Naib Ali Biswas, Vice President Bir Muktijoddha Mohammad Rashidullah, Bir Muktijoddha Golam Mostafa Channa Mandal, General Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mintu, Municipal General Secretary and Municipal Mayor Ishaq Ali Malitha, Upazila Awami League Joint Secretary and Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan, Joint Secretary Murad Malitha, Women’s Affairs Secretary and Vice Chairman Atia Ferdous Kakli, Former District Awami League Women’s Affairs Secretary Mahjebin Shirin Pia, District council member Shafiul Alam Biswas, Upazila Juba League President Shirhan Sharif Tamal, Juba League leader Dolan Biswas, Municipal Juba League president Alauddin Biplob, Upazila Chhatra League president Rakibul Hasan Rony, general secretary Sumon Das and other leaders were present.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Local units of Bangladesh Awami League and district administration observed the ‘Historic March 7 Day’, `a Red-letter day in the history of the Bangalees’ long arduous freedom struggle, in a befitting manner on Monday with a fresh vow to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Various institutions and socio-cultural organisations and professional bodies also observed the day through elaborate programmes.
 The day’s programmes began with the hoisting of national flags atop public, private and autonomous buildings and placing wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders in the morning.

Shaheen Akter Rainy and its General Secretary Dablu Sarker joined the programmes. Other local leaders including Meer Iqbal and Shafiqur Rahman were present on the occasion.
 Marking the day, most of the city offices of the party played the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu throughout the day alongside holding discussions.
 AL city unit held a discussion at its office this noon highlighting the significance of the historic speech with its President Muhammad Ali Kamal in the chair. Front ranking leaders of the unit also spoke at the discussion.
Rajshahi City Corporation has observed the day in a befitting manner paying rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
District administration placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Shilpakala Academy premises in observance of the day. They also held a discussion meeting titled “7th March: Swadhinotar Jeonkathi” at the Shilpakala Academy Auditorium.
Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner GSM Zafarullah addressed the meeting as chief guest, while Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Abu Kalam Siddique, Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Baten and Superintendent of Police Masud Hossain spoke as special guests with DC Abdul Jalil in the chair.
 The discussants said the tantalising speech of Bangabandhu literally had a sparkling effect on the entire population in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, and they became united under his capable and farsighted leadership to bravely fight for liberating the motherland from Pakistani rule.
Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi College and Rajshahi Medical College also observed the historic day highlighting its significance elaborately.
