A court of Barguna yesterday (Wednesday) fixed January 26 to hear a petition filed seeking its order to cancel bail to Ayesha Siddiqa Minni granted by the High Court in the case filed on the charge of the murder of her husband Rifat Sharif.
Minni’s lawyer Mahbubul Bari Aslam submitted a statement in the Barguna District and Sessions Judge’s Court on Wednesday in response to a show-cause notice demanding reasons why Minni’s bail would not be canceled.
The court also completed testimony of three witnesses in the case on the same day. The three witnesses are Manjurul Alam John, Zakaria Babu and Anwar Hossain. With this, testimony of 10 witnesses against the adult accused in the case has been completed.
Mahbubul Bari Aslam told media people, “I have submitted a statement in response to the notice. The court fixed January 26 for hearing on the show-cause response.”
22-year-old Rifat Sharif from Barguna Sadar upazila was hacked to death indiscriminately by Minni’s former husband Nayan Bond and his aides in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College on June 26 last year.
A shocking video of the brutal attack went viral on the social media, sparking widespread outrage and demand for justice from the countrymen.
Ayesha Siddiqa Minni was arrested for her alleged involvement in the murder as well as for the sake of proper investigation of the case. Later, she secured bail from the High Court Division.
