A Dhaka court on Monday fixed Thursday for hearing on a bail petition of Jesmin Jahan Nitto, wife of cricketer Shahadat Hossain, in a case filed for torturing their domestic help.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the order. Nitto’s lawyer Kazi Md Nazibullah Hiru moved the petition.
Earlier, on October 14, another Dhaka court refused her bail plea in the case. The case was filed for alleged torture of their 11-year-old domestic help, Mahfuza Akhter Happy.
On October 4, police arrested Nitto from a house
of Malibagh area in the capital. On the same day, a Dhaka court sent her to the jail rejecting her bail petition.
On September 7, Journalist Mujammel Hossain sued cricketer Shahadat and his wife Nitto for torturing their domestic help Happy. The case was filed with Mirpur Model Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000.
Earlier, on September 6, Shahadat filed a general diary (GD) with the same police station, claiming their housemaid was missing. However, the injured minor girl was found lying on a road of Sangbadik Housing Society area of Pallabi in the city at the night of September 6.
