Police on Tuesday arrested the headmaster of a Karnaphuli Primary School from the capital for ‘sexually harassing’ students.
Tipped off, a team of Karnaphuli Police Station with the help of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Abul Hashem, headmaster of Paschim Patharghata Government Primary School in Karnaphuli upazila, from Mirpur area around 3 pm, said Syed Mostafa, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Police said Hashem used to take private tuition of Class-V students in a classroom of his school in the afternoon. At that time, he used to try to sexually harass the girls.
The guardian of a student filed a case on Monday.
Following the filing of the case, police arrested Sadat, president of the school managing committee, on the day while Abul Hashem went into hiding.
