The High Court on Sunday accepted a bail petition for hearing filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Charitable Trust case in which she had been awarded jail sentence for seven years by a Special Court of Dhaka.
The High Court Bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice S M Kuddus Zaman accepted the petition, but didn’t fix any date for hearing on it.
Earlier in the day, Khaleda’s lawyers Advocate Zainul Abedin, Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan and Barrister Kayser Kamal placed the bail petition in the HC Bench for its hearing.

Earlier on July 31 this year, the HC Bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice S M Kuddus Zaman rejected her bail petition in the case considering gravity of the offence mentioned in the case.
A Dhaka court on October 29 last year convicted and sentenced Khaleda Zia to seven years’ imprisonment in the case.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station on August 8, 2011.
The BNP chief has been undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) since April 1 for treatment.
