Sheikh Arif Bulbon :Theatre troupe Swapnadal staged yet another show of Selim Al Deen’s much-acclaimed play Hargaj at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the city’s Segunbagicha area recently. Based on a true story, Hargaj is such an experimental work of Selim Al Deen, which has been directed by Zahid Repon, a disciple of the playwright. Hargaj is the name of a village under Manikganj district, which experienced a havoc-like tornado in the summer of 1989. Selim Al Deen, himself visited the tornado-hit village after three or four days and depicted the vivid picture of a natural disaster in his play Hargaj, which was written in April, 1992. Through Hargaj, the master playwright not only portrayed the massacre twisted by the tornado but also raised the question of rescue activities and relief initiatives in terms of humanity. The play revolves around an aid-team that arrives at the tornado-hit village. The tornado shatters the bustling locale of farmers, killing hundreds of people and damaging a large part of the area. Veteran technician Thandu Raihan designed stage lights, while the set has been designed jointly by Fazle Rabbi Shukorno and Al Amin. The probable cast of the play includes Sukonna, Samad, Shishir, Shaon, Rezaul, Tirtha, Mita, Mostafiz, Lavlu, Tanvir, Jebu, Madhuri, Rimu, Sharif, Sayeed, Hitlar, Masud, Maitra, Ali, Bimal, Jui, Juyena and Zahid, among others.
