The 14th High Level Meeting (HLM) of Heads of Asian Coastguard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM) being held from Tuesday at Hotel Radisson Dhaka. Bangladesh Coastguard will be the host of the event Representaties from 22 countries and international maritime organisation is expected to participate in the event. Prime Ministers Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the ceremony today as the Chief Guest.
Ministers, members of the participents high officials of govt diplomates and media personnel will be present on the occasion. Director General of the Bangladesh Coastguard Rear Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury will be present as the Chairperson the meeting.
Members from Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Turkey, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmer, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Bahrain, Hongkong coastguard will join the event.
The Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships (RECAAP) in Asia will also take part in the meeting.
HACGAM aims at capacity building amongst the Coastguard and Maritime Security Organisations of the participating nations through cooperative engagements and discussions. Besides the HACGAM member states and organisations aims to promote safe and secure in the region as well as ensure good order and law enforcement at sea.
