The guardians have expressed their deep concern over the recent Secondary School Certificate Examination’s question paper leakage.
They are also worried over their children’s future saying that the repeated question paper leakage might bring negative impact in the minds of the students.
They said the students do not sit for study to prepare them for the examinations but wait for the leaked question paper on facebook and WhatsApp.
The guardians demanded of the government to take immediate necessary steps to stop the leakage of question papers and also give exemplary punishment to those involved in the leakage process.
Kutub Uddin, a guardian of a SSC examinee, told The New Nation on Monday that the leakage of question paper just night before the examination is very dangerous and a bad sign for the Education Sector. It definitely will bring negative result and impact on national progress.
“My daughter is taking part in the SSC examination from Dhaka City College centre. She has taken a good preparation to sit for the examination. She was also very attentive to her studies. But after leakage of the question papers she seems to be very inattentive and waits for the leaked questions,” Kutub, a private serviceholder, said.
Sanjida Khanam, a guardian, said, the evaluation of the meritorious students will be hampered if the question paper leakage continues. The students also lose their interest to sit in the study table. My son also is doing the same.
“It is very unfortunate that the SSC question papers were leaked. There is no need of weapon to make a nation disabled. So, it is urgently needed to find out the persons involved in the leakage to stop it once for all,” she said.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday told the media that a probe committee would be formed to find out the clue of the question paper leakage.
“We will take further decision after getting the probe committee report. If the committee finds any evidence of leakage we may take the examinations again,” he said.
The Minister said, “There was no sign of question paper leakage during last two or three years. We tried our level best to stop all the sources of leakage. But now we are getting the allegation of leakage.”
The law enforcing agencies arrested some of the frauds in this connection, he added.
“We believed that the teachers had handed over the question papers to the ministry. But some of them betrayed with the Ministry and helped to leak the question papers. We will take stern action against the unscrupulous teachers if finds any irregularities,” Nahid said.
He also called upon the guardians to nab the teachers who offer question paper just a night or day before the examinations.
Dhaka Board Chairman Professor Mahabubur Rahman admitted the matter and said that the Ministry would take decision in this regard. “We just will follow the instruction of the Ministry,” he said.
The SSC and equivalent examinations began on February 2 with more than 17.86 lakh students taking part in the exams.
