A jail guard of Kashimpur Central Jail-2 has been arrested while entering the jail with Yaba pills in Gazipur, said superintendent of the jail Abdul Jalil on Friday.
The arrested jail guard is Shahinul Islam, 28.
Abdul Jalil said, “Shahinul Islam has been working as a jail guard at Kashimpur Central Jail-2 in Gazipur for about three years. He was on duty inside the jail from 9pm to 11pm on Thursday. Shahinul came to the main gate of the jail around 9 pm to join the duty. According to the rules, his body was searched while entering the jail. At that time, 187 Yaba tablets hidden from his body were seized.”
“The Yaba tablets packed in polythene were attached to the body with scotch tape inside the underwear. Being informed, Konabari police arrested Shahinul Islam along with Yaba at night and took him to the police station,” he added.
Konabari Police Station officer-in-charge Md Abu Siddique said Mohammad Ali, the co-chief of the jail, has filed a case with the police station.
