University Football: Green Univ to face Fareast Univ in final

National footballers studded Green University will lock horn with Fareast University in the final of the Faraaz Challenge Cup Walton Inter-University Football Tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Wednesday.
The first-ever Inter-University Football final will kick-off at 4 pm. Satellite TV network ATN Bangla will telecast the match live.
Chairman of Hamim Group AK Azad will be the chief guest in the final while Simin Hossain, mother of Faraaz Hossain, will be the special guest on the occasion.
In a pre- match press conference at BOA auditorium here on Tuesday, Green University captain Bashir Uddin and coach Rashedul Islam, and Fareast University captain Mainul Abedin Sujoy and coach Shariful Islam, gave their vote of thanks to Sonali Otit Club for arranging the tournament and expressed their determination to win the title displaying a good game.
National sports award winning footballer cum former national coach Golam Sarwar Tipu was the chief guest in the day’s press meet. Saidur Rahman of Hamim Group, Zarif Hossain, elder brother of Faraaz Hossain, former national footballer Ashrafuddin Ahmed Chunnu, Tournament secretary and star footballer Sheikh Mohammad Aslam were also present on the occasion.
In the semifinals on Monday, Fareast University beat City University by 2-1 goals while Green University defeated BRAC University by 3-0 goals at the Kamalapur Stadium here
Earlier in the quarterfinals, City University beat IUB by 1-0 goal while Green University defeated ULAB by 2-1 goals, Fareast University defeated IUBAT by 1-0 goal and BRAC University, riding on a hat-trick by Rakin, outplayed Daffodil University by 6-0 goals at the same venue.
