People of the grassroots have been showing less interest about the forthcoming election as municipal poll is knocking at the door. Visiting several places and talking to a cross section of people it was observed.
Keeping in their minds about experience of the latest upazila and city corporation polls, people of the grassroots think that the forthcoming municipal polls will be the repetitions of the previous.
‘I do not want to cast my voting rights as I think it will be a farce’, said a teacher of a kindergarten school in Jessore town.
‘There are politicians to cast vote for me,’ he added.
Hasanuzzaman, a village physician under Keshabpur Municipality told New Nation that he has lost all the interest about any public election. ‘I have bitter experience about Keshabpur upazila polls’, he added.
‘Surely I’ll not go to the polling station to cast my vote in municipal polls,’ said Ikram Ali, a vegetable vendor under Nawapara Municipality. ‘I can tell you the result just now,’ he added.
