Grand mother and granddaughter was killed when a truck hit their CNG-run autorickshaw.
The deceased were identified as Salma Begum, 55, and Rinta, 11.
The incident took plae at Rupnagar Beribad area in the capital on Monday around 6am.
Deceased Salma’s son Sohel Rana alias Salek Hossain, 24 and her another granddaughter Alina Jahan Rima, 13 have been injured in the incident.
The relatives said that Rinta’s mother Dulali Begum died in November last year. Father Ershadul Islam lives in the village. Rinta is the youngest of the three sisters. He was studying in 2nd class of
Baninnagar Government Primary School in Rangpur’s Kaliganj Upazila.
DMP’s Rupnagar police station sub-inspector (SI) Lokman Hossain confirmed the incident and said that four members of the same family were going to Ashulia in a CNG-run autorickshaw in the morning.
In the morning, a truck hit the CNG-run autorickshaw at Beribad. Rinta, who was in CNG, died on the spot. Her grandmother Salma Begum died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Three people including a CNG driver were injured.
He further said that after receiving the news, Rinta’s body was recovered and sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Salma’s body has been kept in the morgue of Dhaka Medical college morgue. The deadly truck fled scene after the incident. Attempts are being made to identify it, he added.
Rinta’s aunt Shiuli Akhter said she used tolive in Ashulia. Her mother, brother and sister daughter used to lie in village. They come Dhaka’s Mirpur to visit her father house three days ago.
Later, they fell the road accident while they were come to visit her home in Ashulia on Monday, she said.
Rima was taken home from the Pangu hospital while Salek has admitted in Suhrawardy hospital fo treatment, she added.
