Grameenphone reconfigures internet packages

Grameenphone, the country’s top mobile-phone operator, has restructured its Internet services into seven packages and announced their prices.
The company says the revision, driven by its slogan ‘Internet for All’, aims to take Internet services to all segments of people.
Grameenphone Chief Marketing Officer Allan Bonke disclosed the package details at a press conference in a Dhaka hotel in on Monday.
The package sizes range from small 4MB packs at the entry level to 20GB packs for heavy users.
The 4MB pack, costing Tk 2, will be valid for two days, and the 75MB pack, priced Tk 30, for seven days.
The 1GB pack, having a validity of 28 days, will cost Tk 275. Among the other packages, there are 250MB pack at Tk 99, 2GB pack at Tk 350, heavy browsing pack at Tk 950, and 20GB pack at Tk 2,000.
The 20GB package has validity of 30 days and the other three of 28 days.
The packages will be applicable in both 3G and 2G coverage areas.
All packages, except the 20GB, will have 1MBps speed and the 20GB package 2MBps in 3G coverage areas.
Outside 3G coverage areas, all packages will be limited to 2G speeds.
Subscribers will need to dial *5000# or send an SMS to 5000 with the specified package code to activate the packages.
Bonke said: “Our ambition is not only to make sure that every person in Bangladesh has access to the Internet, but that each person can find relevant content when they explore.”
Grameenphone, a concern of the Norway-based Telenor Group, is the largest mobile-phone operator in Bangladesh with a subscriber base of over 60 million.
