BNP chairperson’s adviser Khandaker Mahbub Hossain on Monday said there is no alternative to ousting the current illegal government through a decisive movement to overcome the country’s ongoing political deadlock.
“The country is now facing only one problem-an illegal administration is on people’s shoulders. So, there’s also only one solution-this illegal regime must be unseated through a decisive movement,” he said.
Mahbub was addressing a discussion, titled ‘The impeachment law and the independence of the judiciary’ organised by pro-BNP platform Jatiyatabadi
arrested Rony along with two gold bars weighing two kilograms worth around Tk one crore from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) around 12:15am.
The officials intercepted him when he was trying to hand the gold bars through the Airport’s transit lounge to another man. They searched his body and found the gold bars. Rony is the inhabitant of Sirajdikhan upazila under Munshiganj district.
Another team of Customs Intelligence arrested a Pakistani national along with huge number of foreign sarees worth about Tk five crore from capital’s Gulshan area.
The identity of the arrested person could not be known immediately, the DG said.
Customs Department’s Assistant Director Umme Nahida Akhter said that another team of Customs officials seized unclaimed 420 cartons foreign cigarettes from capital’s HSIA around 1:30pm.
The price of the cigarette could not be estimated immediately and nobody was arrested in this connection, she said.
On the other hand, a special police team conducted a search operation in an auto-rickshaw and arrested Shafiqul and recovered 10,000 yaba pills in the city’s Paltan area at about 11:30am.
Gulistan Police Outpost Sergeant Nasir Uddin Sarkar confirmed the matter.
