The minister asked the BTRC officials to arrange meeting with the authorities of Face Book to execute the deal. “We have no other alternative to signing the deals to prevent cyber crimes across the country. “If we have agreements with the major online platforms, tackling cyber crimes will be easier to some extents,” she said.

The government has undertaken various steps to check the cyber crime. “We will accommodate officials from RAB, DGFI, BTRC to tackle cyber crimes,” Tarana Halin said.
Earlier, the government plans to sign an agreement with the US authorities in order to be better equipped in handling militant and terrorist activities on the internet. The plan emerged from the thought that most of the social media websites are operated from the US.
The plan to sign an agreement with the US is part of a recent move of the Post and Telecommunication Ministry to identify why the country’s telecom regulator has been failing to stop criminal activities on the cyber world.
The government also plans to sign agreements with Google and Yahoo to prevent cyber crimes including hatred and religious extremism using various online platforms, according to the sources.
BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Manmud and Vice-Chairman Ahsan Habib Khan were present at the meeting.
