Govt to procure 30,000 MT bagged urea, 50,000 MT bulk urea fertilizer

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday approved three separate proposals to procure some 30,000 metric tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer and 50,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer.
The approval came from the 24th CCGP meeting of the current year held virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting virtually, Kamal said Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Industries Ministry will procure 30,000 metric tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh at a cost of around Taka 64.73 crore.
Besides, the BCIC will procure 25,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) at a cost of around Taka 56.97 crore while the BCIC will also procure another 25,000 metric tons of bulk urea fertilizer from Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (Fertiglobe), UAE at a cost of around Taka 57.29 crore.
The CCGP meeting also approved a proposal for awarding the contract to the highest score attained Noorani Construction Limited for constructing some 76 flats measuring 1800 square feet each with ancillary works for the government officials at the Azimpur Government Colony (Zone A) with a cost of around Taka 160.30 crore.
Meanwhile, the CCGP meeting decided to initiate the process for re-tendering the package no WD-05 of the upgradation of Jhenidah-Kushtia-Pakshi-Dashuria National Highway and Kushtia town portion into four lane since a single bidder responded to the initial bidding.
