The country’s 4,516 Union Information Service Centers (UISCs) will be turned into outsourcing centers for developing the IT literate youths as freelancers.
The UISCs, Polytechnic and other institutions are creating each year thousands of IT literate youths who could use the UISCs for freelancing outsourcing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Khan told a meeting on Sunday with the mobile phone operator Airtel. Our target is to develop entrepreneurs who will work along with 20-25 freelancers to run business in the district, upazila and union level, he said adding the freelancers at union level will get an opportunity to use the UISCs for outsourcing.
“As part of our plan, we have already developed 15,000 freelancers in the district level in 2013 under a Learning and Earning Programme and also took initiative to develop another 50,000 freelancers this year in the upazila level,” N I Khan said adding the government is also planning to develop an entrepreneur in each district and upazila in the first phase to facilitate freelancers training and running business.
