Depriving the people of rule of law or vote is supported by some as if the country is in war like situation. Liberation war cannot be divided as Indian liberation war and Bangladeshi liberation war. It was people’s liberation war and not of any section of the people.Barrister Mainul Hosein said this at a talk show on “Our Democracy,” telecast by RTV and moderated by Lutfor Rahman Kiron on Sunday night. Barrister Hosein said winning in election as it appears, has become an affair of force and not of people’s vote. Winning in voterless election is making the situation more and more desperate as they consider getting declared as elected is everything, the voters need not to vote, he said adding without legitimacy of the government the country will be deprived of economic cooperation. The country, he further said will not be seen as politically stable.I believe that the persons at the helm of affairs do not care to understand and listen to what we say in the television talks. But still I do so for creating awareness among the young people about our problems and possible ways to put the country on the road to peace and happiness. Our purpose, he said is also to create awareness among the people that politics is for serving people selflessly and not treating the country as a family property. The country cannot be on the right path without political reform at the top he said adding politics needs to be saved from being used as a money making business. We need political leadership to think and act politically, he said. Politicization is a way of spreading corruption and a section of police are arresting and taking people on remand for making money, he said adding that bail business of multi-crore takas in the justice system cannot be allowed.
