The government is satisfied with the expeditious trial and the verdict given in a case filed for the murder of Nusrat Jahan Rafi, who was burnt to death for protesting against sexual abuse by the principal of a madrasha, said Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“All the sixteen accused have been sentenced to death in the Nusrat murder case. The trial proceedings were conducted and completed quickly. For that the government has been satisfied,” said Obaidul Quader.
“I express satisfaction at the verdict,” he said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday.
A tribunal in Feni sentenced 16 people to death for their roles in killing Nusrat. Now the subordinate court will send the death reference copy to the High Court (HC) for approval.
